Circuit Mont-Tremblant OK for Champ Cars?

After viewing the Mont Tremblat web site and taking the video lap of the track I have certain reservations about this track.

First of all it looks like a fun track to drive.

But, it looks dangerous - not enough gravel traps, no catch fencing and the Armco is too close to the track in places.

I couldn't see any permant seating during the one lap video.

My biggest fear is that some one will get hurt at this race!

Perhaps some of our Canadian friends can comment?

http://www.lecircuit.com/en/track.htm you can also download a nice PDF of the track.

I saw the video and agree it does look very tight and the barriers are very close for a Champ car track - makes Watkins Glen look really safe.

Why didnt Champ Car get a team or two to check it out in between races like the IRL did with the Daytona road course. The last think they need is to can the race like at Texas because they found it was too dangerous !

12 teams have tested, and the word is, they like it. Not alot of passing area though.

I worked the track for the 3 Rolex races here, lots of fun to drive, many improvments since the video on the web site was filmed 4 years ago

Shortly after I posted this CCWS announced that there were to be safety changes to the track. Anonymous 1 sez the video is 4 years old. Let's hope for a good and safe race. We shall see!
